The term freezing effect was put forward by Kurt Lewin, one of the pioneers of social psychology. According to Lewin, people’s reactions are interconnected and each affects others. The freezing effect is the freezing of thoughts, feelings and behaviors when one encounters a problem. Lewin observed the freezing effect when people were blocked during the problem -solving process. For example, a group of students witnessed that some students froze before completing the solution in the experiment of solving the mathematics problem. These students had difficulty in taking the necessary steps to solve the problem and became still after some point. Lewin thought that the freezing effect was caused by the fact that people do not have enough motivation to complete a task. Accordingly, if enough motivation cannot be achieved to complete a task, the person may freeze and become still. Lewin stated that it is important to clarify the goals of people, facilitate their tasks and give positive feedback to increase motivation. Freezing effect is considered a phenomenon that occurs not only in the problem solving process, but also in stressful situations. In stressful cases, people may be exposed to freezing when encountering a feeling of helplessness and uncontrolled. This may prevent the person from fighting effectively and even have traumatic consequences. https://egepazarindan.com/gece-yme-sendromu-yemek-yemden-uyuyorum/ Freezing effect Example Kurt Lewin, in the 1940s, made a series of experiments to examine the freezing effect. In these experiments, the participants were divided into groups and a leader was appointed to each group. Positive feedback was given to one group of leaders and negative feedback was given to the other. Then, both groups were given a series of challenging tasks. Lewin and his team discovered that the participants in the group, which was given positive feedback to their leaders, performed better, and the participants in the group, which was given negative feedback to their leaders, performed less. Lewin said that the positive or negative feedback given to the leaders was reflected in the performance of the participants because it affects the self -confidence and behavior of the leaders. This may cause leaders not to get rid of the freezing effect. If a leader is not confident or receives negative feedback, these leaders may tend to fail in their duties. https://egepazarindan.com/cam-tavan-sendromu-nasil-asilir/ You can subscribe to our bulletin to be aware of our informative articles, current product and price lists, campaigns and follow our instagram page.
